CultureCIVIC support for the Lilik Project

Keter Studio has been awarded artistic production support from CultureCIVIC for the ‘Lilik Project’. This support will enable us to further develop the project’s research and production process around local contexts, cultural knowledge, and collective modes of making.
Reconstructing Memory and Interaction. Keter Studio’s practice of restoration and collective thinking manifests as a medium for social interaction within the Lilik project, which takes its name from the Hemshin word for toy/play. The project aims to intertwine endangered oral narratives, cultural practices and ecological sustainability through the lens of contemporary art. It approaches production not as a mere output but as a form of relationship that ensures the continuity of local practices through collective speculative narratives.
Liminal Beings and Living Installations. Figures from the local mythical narratives are reimagined as functional public space installations. Through a land-art approach and 3D technology, these hybrid structures serve as focal points for emerging cultural practices. Designed for interaction and cultivation, they integrate seamlessly with the natural landscape.
A Collective Production Model in the Rural. Lilik presents an experimental model that originates from and transforms within the local. Collective narratives, co-designed with children and the local community, establish a new mythology addressing the town’s physical and spiritual needs. It projects the legacy of the future by transforming local rituals into a platform for dynamic and sustainable dialogue.
The programme is funded by the European Union.
